TesseraSnapGetting started
Install TesseraSnap, find its icon and move your first window. It takes about two minutes.
Install
You need Windows 11 (64-bit) and about 2 MB of disk space. No administrator rights.
- Download
TesseraSnapSetup-version.exefrom the Download page. - Run it. If Windows SmartScreen warns you, click More info, then Run anyway.
- Keep the default options. TesseraSnap installs to
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\TesseraSnap. - Leave Start TesseraSnap now ticked and click Finish.

TesseraSnap has no main window. It lives in the notification area at the right end of the taskbar.
- Windows 11 may hide it behind the ^ arrow.
- To keep it on the taskbar, open Windows Settings → Personalization → Taskbar → Other system tray icons and turn TesseraSnap on.
- Click the icon to open the menu. See Menu & icon.
Move your first window
A footprint shows where the window will go before it moves.
| Way | How |

| Keyboard | Click a window and press Ctrl+Alt+← for the left half. Press again for two thirds, then one third. |
| Drag | Drag the window by its title bar to the left edge. Let go when the footprint appears. |
| Throw (Pro) | Point at any window, hold Ctrl+Alt and move the mouse right. Let go of the keys, or press Esc to cancel. |
Ctrl+Alt+Enter maximizes, and Ctrl+Alt+Backspace puts the window back. Next, read Keyboard shortcuts, Snap areas and Cursor movement.
Windows' own Snap is paused while TesseraSnap runs
This keeps the two from fighting at the screen edges.
- Quit TesseraSnap, or restart your PC, and Windows' Snap is back the way you had it.
- Win+arrow snapping pauses too. Use Ctrl+Alt+arrow instead.
- To keep Windows' Snap, untick Pause Windows Snap while TesseraSnap is running on Settings → App Settings.

Every install includes 7 days of every Pro feature, from the first time TesseraSnap runs. No account, email or card.
- Pro features: Throw, Long Throw, Quick Throw, Move & Resize, Layouts, Stash and Pin Mode.
- The days left show in the tray menu and at the bottom of the Settings sidebar.

Start with Windows
TesseraSnap starts when you sign in. To stop that, untick Launch TesseraSnap when I sign in on Settings → App Settings.
Where your settings and log live
Both are in %APPDATA%\TesseraSnap. Open them with Open config file or Open log folder on Settings → App Settings.

Update or uninstall
- To update, run the newer installer. It keeps your settings. The Microsoft Store version updates through the Store.
- To uninstall, open Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find TesseraSnap and choose Uninstall. This also deletes your settings.
